Son writes funny obituary for poker-loving father

An old-fashioned pen

When most people think of an obituary, it’s a sad moment. But that wasn’t the case for Rocky Loveless of Eubank, Kentucky. His father, James Loveless, died on Wednesday, June 14. According to Rocky, he enjoyed playing poker as well as indulging in fried food, steak, beer, cars and swimming. And let’s not forget the fact that he also loved women!

After his death, it was left to Rocky to write his father’s obituary – which has now gone viral! He noted that his father “would like people to talk about funny things.” As a result, Rocky talks about some of the “interesting aspects” related to his father’s life.

The field next to Rocky’s sister’s home in Eubank was where he spoke about his father, which is the same place for the funeral. However, this was something Rocky was quick to deny, claiming there would be no funeral, instead noting “…we’re having a barbecue.”

In the obituary, which is five paragraphs long, Rocky called himself “James’ second favorite son.” Those who have read it describe it as entertaining from start to finish. Let’s all raise a glass to the poker-loving, beer-drinking, fry-eating, car-loving James Loveless—and of course, to his son, Rocky!

Gambler Drake caught in an awkward moment!

Exclamation mark

We all know that Canadian rapper Drake is a fan of gambling. It has even entered into partnerships with offshore gambling sites, helping their popularity among players. As it happens, he is worth around $250 million, with some of that coming from his gambling endeavors. A number of huge bets, including one on Jon Jones at UFC 285 that earned him $1.7 million, led to him becoming a true spectacle in the industry.

Although he may be enjoying a nice winning streak recently, Drake is unable to avoid some awkward situations. Recently, video caught the rapper watching a live stream of Kick featuring a woman lying down laughing while getting a foot massage and posing erotically. Drake seems to have felt it necessary to log into his banking app and leave her a $499 tip! Yet it was no ordinary voyage, because his credit card transaction was quickly declined. However, the rapper took it all in stride, commenting “Embarrassing!” on the failed transaction.

The video was soon picked up by his fans on Twitter, with many commenting on the situation. Most of them found it a funny moment, although some speculated why such a transaction would not go through.

After all, Drake is worth a lot of money. Of course, he’s also spending a lot on legal fees right now, thanks to a selection of ongoing cases. This includes a $10 million lawsuit from a Ghanaian rapper known as Obrafour who claims Drake sampled his lyrics in one of his tracks without permission.

Have you ever heard the one about the lawyer who gambles?

Courthouse

So often we hear about lawyers involved in illegal gambling cases and other negative stories of that nature. It’s not often that lawyers and gambling mix in a good way. There is one case of this that may change your mind.

Spencer Smith was a full-time lawyer. He still spends several hours a week working on legal documents and other related duties. But now it’s more of a side job for him. Law is still an ideal back-up plan for him as well, should he need to make a U-turn and generate additional funds.

In addition, Smith is now a person with a completely different life path. This is because his main source of income comes from his professional poker game. In the last 16 months or so, he’s also been pretty strong at the table.

Spencer now has four World Series of Poker Circuit titles since February 2022. Within this 16-month time period, he has defeated a total of 7,500 players and as a result has increased his poker tournament winnings to a total of almost $410,000. This is a true success story that you can achieve – from lawyer to professional poker player. Just to put his accomplishments into context, most poker players are unlikely to win four round robins in their entire career, let alone 16 months.

The World Series of Poker announced its 2023 dates late last year. Scheduled to take place from May 30th to July 18th, the Las Vegas Strip will be filled with avid poker players looking to get their hands on a good chunk of the winnings. Smith was also in attendance, clearly intent on adding more track wins to his haul.

He has left the legal industry twice, with his last full-time legal job coming in September 2021. The first time he left it to run a non-profit, but the last time was to follow his poker aspirations. With the success he already has, we’d say he’s on the right track for sure!
