Coin Poker Summer Showdown Series: $140,000 GTD in July
The world’s largest online cryptocurrency poker site CoinPoker preparing for his Summer Showdown Series. Running from July 14-23, this series consists of 30 events with guaranteed prize pools adding up to $140,000.
Summer Showdown Details
As is always the case at CoinPoker, Summer Showdown payouts are listed in Tether (USDT or ₮) crypto coin, and this is the same currency in which winnings are paid out. Fortunately for crypto and poker fans, Tether’s value is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. This allows you to easily find out how much you are losing or winning without doing difficult calculations.
There are three tournaments each day during the 10 days of the series. They are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. ET. In general, purchases increase later in the day, although there are exceptions to this trend.
While most of the events are NL Hold’em, there are healthy flashes of PLO and 5 Card PLO on the schedule. Some of the tournaments are freezeouts, but many are repeat cups and a significant number are progressive knockouts. Buy-ins range from ₮0.50 to ₮500, while guarantees start at ₮100 and go up to ₮50,000.
The number of events and prize money at stake are quite modest, especially compared to major series such as the Online Super Series and the Black Diamond Poker Open hosted by competitors. Yet the low-key nature of Summer Showdown is probably one of its strengths. In fact, it is possible for one person to enjoy every event on the list without committing too much of either their time or money.
Additional prizes up for grabs
In addition to the guaranteed cash prizes, each tournament also has an additional value between 10 and 500 ₮. You see, everyone who registers for a Summer Showdown tournament will be entered into a raffle for between one and five tournament tickets depending on the particular tournament. These tickets are valid for participation in events in the upcoming Crypto Series of Online Poker (CSOP) or satellite tournaments.
Main event and satellites
The Summer Showdown Series Main Event will take place on Sunday, July 23 at 3:00 p.m. This is the final tournament of the series. It costs ₮500 to join and will give away at least ₮50,000 in prizes along with one randomly awarded ₮500 ticket to a CSOP event. Unusually for a tournament of this type, there are unlimited rebuys allowed during the first 11 blind levels.
CoinPoker is aware that $500 is a lot to enter a tournament and for this reason has decided to offer multiple satellites allowing users to earn their seats for less.
By progressing through a series of three tiers of tiered tournaments, you can secure tickets from ₮500. The buyins for the three steps are ₮0.25, ₮2.50 and ₮25. If you don’t have time for steps and prefer to enter direct qualifiers, then you have the option to do so in satellites costing ₮25 and ₮50 to register.

Sunday, July 16, 3:00 PM ET; ₮200-buy on Sunday Special Ribai; ₮35,000 guaranteed
This tournament replaces CoinPoker’s regular Sunday Special and comes with a decent ₮5,000 over the normal guarantee. Aside from the Main Event, this is the biggest guarantee in the Summer Showdown Series. What’s more, there’s a ₮500 CSOP ticket up for grabs.
Sunday, July 20, 3:00 PM ET; ₮30-purchase NoMercy R&A Special; ₮3000 guaranteed
A relatively normal tournament with a medium guarantee, what makes this tournament special is the presence of Isabelle “NoMercy” Mercier. Whoever manages to knock her out after the repurchase period expires will win a cool prize of ₮100. Additionally, a ₮150 tournament ticket will be distributed by random draw to all participants.
Sunday, July 23, 2:00 PM ET; ₮100-purchase PLO Rebuy; ₮3000 guaranteed
The biggest Omaha event on the roster, it’s a rebuy, so the chips will be flying fast and furious. It starts right before the Main Event, so it’s a great addition to your schedule if you’re planning on playing the big game. There is a ₮200 ticket that will be awarded to a lucky participant.
Compete in the monthly leaderboard at the same time
Every month, CoinPoker runs a ₮15,000 leaderboard for its MTT players, and when you compete in the Summer Showdown, you’ll automatically earn points for it. No opt-in or additional payment required. The points awarded for a particular tournament depend on the buy-in amount, field size and the player’s final position in the tournament.
The top prize consists of ₮1,000 cash, one ₮500 CSOP Main Event ticket and three ₮200 tournament tickets. A total of 150 people receive a reward from this ranking every month.
